I have come across a variety of useful online resources whilst developing websites and here they are.

This is NOT a link exchange page, this is a page of links I regularly visit which help me make websites. If you email me asking me to put your link up here, I will ignore it.

Ever wanted an ajax loading animation for your ajax site that fits in? Well here you go. Here is an alternative with a few more customisations.
Check Server Headers Tool
A tool to double check that a web server is sending out the correct HTTP header codes. If you are interested in the full headers, try web-sniffer.net.
Colour Combination Tester
Simple colour combination tester, compare your colour schemes. This is a little simpler than Adobe Kuler but not as awesome.
CSS Gradient Generator
Simple Photoshop-esque generator for your CSS gradients.
Cynthia Says, content accessibility validator
A tool that checks your websites against basic criteria for accessibility based on the WCAG guidelines from the W3C.
Entity Code
Cannot remember how to display an entity in HTML? Its probably on Entity Code but if you are looking for an accented letter try these lookup tables or alternatively a big page with lots on for copying and pasting.
FavIcon from Pics
There are plenty of FavIcon generators out there but this is the one I use.
Firebug, web development tool
A web development tool that integrates with Firefox and allows you to quickly edit the code of any website on the fly.
Firefox, highly customisable web browser
The most customisable web browser. Not the fastest or lightest but definitely the most capable.
Font Squirrel font-face generator
This tool generates the font-face code you might want for your website, compatible with all desktop browsers.
Google Closure Compiler
This tool strips out the whitespace and comments etc from your javascript, compressing it down to allow for faster loading without losing functionality.
GTmetrix website speed test
Useful for finding out how fast your page loads and comparing it against other pages.
Iconfinder
Find and download icons for free
jQuerify bookmarklet
Add jQuery to any page you are viewing so you can mess around with it easier in your browsers developer tools.
KeepYour.co.uk
Quickly find out about your .uk domain name, what its current name servers are, owner details, etc, etc.
MD5 generator
Surprisingly useful from time to time.
Network Tools
A variety of domain tools (including an online dig) which, being run from a more partial location, is a bit more accurate.
PHP Function Index
A list of every PHP function and links to pages on how to use them.
Rackspace Cloud Servers
Very affordable and well equipped virtual servers. They are very very reliable but you can always confirm that here.
Random string generator from clsc.net
More and more these days I am finding I need a truly random string for passwords or encryption so here is my favourite generator of said random strings.

Quickly see how your website looks at mobile resolutions.
stock.xchng
The leading free stock photography site apparently.
Tizag
Slightly easier to digest tutorials than W3Schools but slightly less comprehensive.
Ultimate .htaccess examples
Awesome bit of .htaccess magic for when you are dealing with the beast that is apache.
VisiBone color lab
A quick reference web safe color comparison chart. Yes they spell colour wrong but nevermind.
(Unofficial) W3C Validation Badges
Useful to show off your efforts developing your website without taking up too much physical space on your website.
Unicode Character Finder
Find out all the different codes for HTML entity characters. Useful for using with :before and :after.
W3C cheatsheet
A nifty little search engine for HTML tags and CSS properties.
W3C CSS validator
Validate your CSS to quickly check for any typo or bad code.
W3C HTML validator
Validate any HTML to quickly check for any typo or bad code.
W3Schools
The largest resource for web development tutorials, the CSS reference is perhaps the most useful part of W3Schools.
WAVE
This useful tool checks your website for accessibility and graphically highlights errors and accessibility issues in your code.
Who.is
Whois lookup and other tools at an easy to remember URL.
Yellowpipe Lynx Viewer Online
This displays a website in Lynx or text only mode online in a website page.
Yellowpipe Lynx Viewer Tool
This tool integrates with Firefox to display a website in Lynx or text only mode, (presumably) how search engines see websites.
